Mimmy is in Heaven

Mimmy passed away yesterday, and even though it is so hard letting her go, I know she is way better off. I just know her and Papa are so happy seeing each other again! We are heading to Texas today to be with all the family.

This was the most amazing women I have ever met. She would do anything for anyone and give the clothes off her back to a stranger. I have so many WONDERFUL memories with her that I will never forget! I can not believe that I am sitting here writing that she is gone. This is the HARDEST post I have ever wrote. I thought she would live forever. Growing up (and still do) I look up to her so much. She was a teacher for many many years, and when I would spend summers at her and Papa's house, I would get a poster board, chalk, paper, you name it and set my baby dolls up like they were my students in my class and teach them. I would say I want to be a teacher just like you! I am so thankful for the summers and days that I spent with them. She gave me the best childhood any child could have. I'm not going to lie, my Mimmy spoiled me. I will never forget our shopping trips to the mall, her taking me to softball camp, rubbing my back with baby powder until I went to sleep, letting me and my brother take turns driving down the driveway when we could barley see over the wheel, going to check on Papa and Bo when they were working on the farm, going to the beauty shop, going to church and letting me sleep on her lap while the preacher was speaking, going with her to meetings that she had with her friends or church group, going with her to take meals to her friends that were sick or had lost a loved one, working in the garden. I have a picture of me holding some carrots that we picked, and I am wearing her shower cap and one of her duster night gowns with the biggest smile ever on my face.Hughes Springs has lost one of the most well known, sweetest couple and she will be missed!I am so glad that I was able to talk to her before she passed. She laughed and sounded like the Mimmy that I remember. She talked to Steven Paul and that just made her day! The way her face would light up when she would see Steven Paul and Rheanne was Priceless.
I Love you Mimmy so much and it is going to be so hard without you, but I I know you are so much happier!I miss you so much already but I will see you again!

I also want to thank my grandpa for taking care of her this past year.It was one of the hardest jobs ever and he did such a great job. You are such an amazing man, and you got many gems added to your crown for what you have done!

Exciting news.......Sad news

I have a few things that I am super excited about (No I'm not pregnant)! Starting Monday I get my very own classroom at work! I am going to be teaching the older 3's and I can't wait!! At my old job that is the class I taught and I LOVE it!

Also, I got my letter of acceptance from Oklahoma State University-OKC and I get to start school in January!! I am so excited and the best part is that 80% of my schooling will be paid for!!I am so ready to start school again and go until I am COMPLETELY finished!!YAY!

Lastly, our 3 year anniversary is coming up in 3 weeks and I am so excited about spending it with just Steven! My parents are going to take the kids with them to Texas and we will get "us" time! We are not sure what we are going to do yet, but massages sound GREAT!

Please pray for my Great Grandma, she is in poor health, and was put in the hospital with pnemonia, they had to place a feeding tube in her and diagnosed her with alzymers. On September 3 of last year is when my Great Grandpa passed and she has been is horrible shape ever since. But I'm sure I would be the same way if the person that I was married to for 67 years passed. I hope that she make it threw this even though she would rather be in heaven with Papa.I love you Mimmy!

Steven Paul

Steven Paul had his 3 year check up the other day and he did SO great! In the past he hasn't been the biggest fan of the doctor, but this time I was preparing him for a few days, that he was going to go see the nice doctor, and she was going to look in his ears, mouth, weigh him, Etc. and when we got in there he did GREAT! He was talking to her like he had known her for years, which is crazy because he is SUPER shy! He weighed 42.4lbs and was 40 in tall! She said he is super healthy and that he is really advanced for his age! :) That makes me really happy!!

He is still the funniest kid that I know!EVERY Saturday we get up and head out to garage sales so this kid knows when he sees a garage sale! So we were driving the other day and we passed a redneck house(you know where there is junk all in the yard, but they are not having a yard sale) and he said "Look mom, a garage sale!" I said, "You like garage sales just like me don't you?" His reply " Yes, and I like cookies, and candy, and vegetable, and icee's, and milk." He defiantly gets his sweet tooth from me!

They called me into work early the other day so we were rushing to get ready. He had went poop earlier in the morning and wanted to put his undies on all by himself, so I let him. When I was dressing him, he kept saying, "I have a wedgie mom!" So I look and his undies are on completely wrong! So I take them off and start dressing him again and he was saying "I want to do it, I want to do it." But we were rushing so I did it and put him in the car! The whole way to work, he wasn't talking to me when usually he wont STOP talking. I asked him what was wrong and he told me that he was mad at me because I wouldn't let him pull up his pants! WOW!
So in the middle of the day his teacher came to me laughing so hard! She said your son cracks me up! I asked why and she said "We were getting in line to go outside and he came up to me and said Mrs. Amanda, I am mad at my mom," she asked him why and he said because she wouldn't let me pull my pants up!"
He is soooo shy and has NEVER even spoke 2 words to his teacher. So when I saw him later in the day he was STILL mad at me and acted like he didn't even know who I was. He gets holding grudges from his dad!

Picture Overload!!!

So I haven't added pictures of the kids in a while, so here you have it!We have been super busy!
Here are the most beautiful kids EVER! (not that I am biased or anything)
I was trying to get a good picture of all of us together! But as you can see, we never got ONE!
Her eyes are closed....
His eyes are closed....
Look at her mad look.....
He is so silly.....
Her with her mad look....AGAIN
This one is probably the best one, and of course she's not smiling....
I was in the kitchen then other day and they got really quiet, I just knew they were into something, I come in the living room and they were laying like this watching TV. So stinkin sweet!
They love each other so much!
Brushing her teeth this morning before church!
Playing in her room!
Pretty girl!

How It all Began......

Our Anniversary is coming up in three weeks and I have a surprise for her. Just thinking about these past three years and what my wife and I have been through, is precious. Time begins to fly when you work and stay busy, but to get a chance, at least, once a year to send the kids off to their grandparents and share a moment, "of when it all began," is beautiful.

How It all Began

While playing baseball in California, I was given an offer to play for a junior college in Texas. I was involved in the wrong crowd and decided it was time for change. At the age of nineteen, I made the best decision of my life. I drove to Mt. Pleasant, Texas and I attended North East Texas Community College. Towards the end of the school year I new I was headed to the University of Oklahoma to continue playing ball and school. What I did not know was that I would continue building a relationship with, Brittani McGee.

Before I left Texas to go back home to California for the summer, Brittani told me that we would talk to each other everyday. She did not lie, we would talk for hours on hours everyday, as long as the phone calls started at 9pm my time, so I could have free minutes. Several phone calls lasted from 9pm till 7am when my Dad was leaving for work. When the batteries on our phones were going dead, we just plugged our chargers into our phones. We never wanted to hangup with the other person. We missed each other and the more we talked to each other, the more we fell in love.

She came the extra mile and flew to California to meet all of my family. This is when we made it official. We were a couple. My family loved her Texas accent, they made her say lots of words. My favorite was, "Pink," because when she said it, it sounded like, "Pank." My family loved her right off the bat. I showed her around my home and why California was so beautiful.

While attending the University of Oklahoma, my future wife was accepted to The University of Central Oklahoma. We were only 30 minutes away from each other. This really made our relationship stronger than ever before. We talked about marriage but were indecisive. Till one day, Brittani was acting weird. She broke down crying and told me she was pregnant. We were taken back by this new discovery but this only made our relationship stronger.

It took about a month to let my parents know of the news because I wanted to tell them in person. I was very nervous but they handle it great. I remember both of their reactions vividly. My Mom smiled from ear to ear. My Dad had a fatherly approach with no real emotion. He merely asked questions and wondered if I would marry her. I told him, "YES, I love her and this is a sign from God to quit talking about marriage and to do it." A few days later I called Brittani's Mom, real Dad and Step Dad to ask for her hand in marriage.

While back in Oklahoma and both of us attending the University of Oklahoma, I took Brittani out to dinner at Red Lobster and proposed to her. Our son was born on August 1, 2006 and we got married on September 16, 2006.

Had I stayed in California to play baseball and hung around the same crowd, I do not know what I would be doing right now. What I do know is that, everyday when I wake up in the morning next to Brittani, I can only thank God for giving me the strenght to drive across the United States and take a chance. After that, God has blessed us with two beautiful children, loving friends and family, food in our stomachs, water in our veins and a roof over our heads.

Reaching Out!!

Yesterday at church the service was GREAT! I had a friend from work go with me and she loved it as well! The service really made me start thinking about what I do to reach out to people who don't go to church and who don't believe in God and really I do a whole bunch.........OF NOTHING! So I have decided to start here, putting it on my blog different ways to take the gospel to all nations as the preacher put it. There are so many awesome resources that our church has come up with!

Life Church has put together YouVersion, an online bible that you can download to your phone for FREE! How awesome is that, you can take your bible everywhere you go!

You can also go to the churches website and watch messages from any series again for FREE!!

The resource that I found that will probably work best is Church Online. You can go and watch church live, worship live, and chat with others about different church topics! You can also find a small group and meet with the group online! There are so many people who say that they are just to busy to go to church, or have to work on Sundays so this is a great way to go to church!

I just started going to this church recently and I really wish I would have found it sooner! It is AWESOME! They do so much to help everyone and they have all of these resources for FREE!

Closing the service the preacher said " We will do anything short of sin to reach the lost," and "To reach people no one is reaching, you have to do things no one is doing."

Hope that you enjoy these resources and pass them along so we can get the message out there!Enjoy!
